"Obviously, Doctor, you have never been a 13 year old girl"

Hey everyone, sorry for lack of posts. Not much happening lately! Then again, the Glee live tour is in a matter of days (well, like 32 days) and summer is in 45 days! Beyond excited for my California trip this summer, I miss L.A and Santa Cruz like crazy. So, anyways, I recently saw 'The Virgin Suicides'. It was made in 1999 and directed by one of my favourite directors, Sofia Coppola. The film is adapted from the book by Jeffrey Eugenides, a story about five sisters who live a mysterious existence. We are told about them from the points of view from the neighbourhood boys who were captivated by them who come together 20 years later, attempting to solve the enigmatic ways of the Lisbon sisters. This is a pretty bitter sweet film, because there are very dark elements (urm, hi, it's got the word 'suicide' in the title) but it still retains a certain charm. As I said, Coppola is one of my all time favourite directors, so I already knew how much I loved her style of filming and the cinematography, but this story was excellent. Basically, I adored it.

Before I go, just wanted to tell you I recently taught myself how to do fish tail braids! Now I am obsessed and do them in my hair the whole time. Next on the agenda - learn how to do the 'Lady Gaga' hair bow!

Dancing Chanel

When I was in Brooklyn, chilling with the family and Duffy, his girlfriend (and very good friend of ours) told my Mother and me all about a project her sister did for Vogue and Chanel. Obviously, anything associated with those 2 things is usually a winner, but this is even better than you think! Her sister is called Emma Chadwick and she is an immensely talented ballet dancer who happens to be beyond stylish and beautiful. Basically, they are the rad-est (yes, that is a word, as of now) sisters EVER. So, back to the video, Emma is wearing the Spring/Summer 2011 Chanel collection and throwing some shapes (such an understatement, but I love that phrase). The fashion film animator Quentin Jones made it for Vogue T.V and it is all round awesome. As Vogue.com describes it - a masterpiece, fashion at its most artistic. Check it!

It's a Love/Hate Relationship

Just bought these bad Johnnys from 'Runwaydreamz', a USA based company that my friend introduced me to. At first I thought they were a little tacky and trashy looking, but then they started to grow on me and I ordered some as a 'spur of the moment' kinda thang. They will be here in 1-2 weeks, according to their promise, so I will post some pictures when they arrive fo' sho'. Can't wait!

These tempted me, but I am pretty sure my Mum thought I was kidding. Ha, yeah....

What can I say, I'm all for the 'go big or go home' vibe.

Water for Elephants

Today I went with my Father to see 'Water for Elephants' starring Robert Pattinson (no, of course this is not why I wanted to see it, who do you think I am? Cough...) and Reese Witherspooon. It's an adaptation from the book by Sara Gruen, a story set in 1931 following the journey of Jacob Jankowski, a young man who almost completes his course at Cornell to become a licensed vet, when his Polish parents die in a car accident. As there was no will or plan for him, his home is taken and he is alone. Jacob is doomed until he discovers the Benzini Brothers travelling circus. Here he becomes the circus vet and he discovers the circus owner's beautiful wife, Marlena. She is the main attraction at the circus and her husband August has anger management problems that are revealed.
Now I will stop as I will end up telling you the end and you won't want to see it. The trailer does not give much of the plot away, so I went in not knowing what to expect, but I was very pleased with what I saw. The cinematography was very good, I loved the story line, but most of all, they re-created the atmosphere of a 30's circus beautifully. The costumes, the set design, the acting; it was all executed perfectly!

Gaga, Ooh Lala

As you may know I have a love for music, but not the typical teenage girl kind. None of that 'top 10' crap, I'm more of an underground/retro kinda gal. But, one of the few exceptions I make is for Lady Gaga. Strange? She is usually the kind of person I would shun for 'trying too hard', but she is just so damn entertaining in her interviews and I have to admit, her fashion choices are immense. Some times too much, but hey, I am definitely for the 'more is more' notion. Another thing I surprising love is E! and I have no shame in saying that I am an avid follower on twitter, getting all the latest trashy Hollywood gossip (you know it!), but I also watch E! News like it's a real news show (Channel 4 news? Pft, puh-lease guuurl, gimme summa dat Kardashian shiz! *cough* Oh dear... that was embarrassing...*cough*). Right, well, where was I? Oh yes, as I watched the lovely Guiliana on E! today I saw her interview with Gaga and they exclusively showed her new 'Judas' music video. Needless to say, the song was catchy as hell and is replaying in my head at this very moment, and being a Gaga video it was very 'different'. Another obvious fact? Loved it. Recently, this song has been trashed for being offensive as it uses a religious name in a pop culture context and apparently it's 'disrespectful', but come on. The lyrics are about still being in love with some one and she happens to choose the name 'Judas' as she (according to the E! interview) is obsessed with religious art. Although the song got a bad rep, that doesn't stop her fans from buying it and everyone from watching the video, and frankly, I doubt she gives a flying rat's ass. Go Gaga!

Me thinks describing myself as 'special' is an understatement.
Thank you, Face in a Hole, you have truly outdone yourself.

One Day

Recently, due to a recommendation from a friend, I read the book 'One Day' by David Nicholls. Honestly, when I first started reading I was not trying to get into it like I do with other books as I was 'busy'. Since I hadn't got much going on I decided to get down to it and just read, read, read. Took me a day to get through maybe 2/3 of it, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story and it felt quite visual. One of the things I hate about books is you can't always imagine it in your head, but this was not the case. The characters are realistic, the story too, and it was altogether a super book that I would recommend. Hey, if you aren't into the whole 'reading' thing (which annoys me so much, when people say they 'don't read'. What the hell?!) then just wait for the film to be released!

Anne Hathaway looks as beautiful as ever with a crop.

Over and out.

Nice Day For a White Wedding

Not the Billy Idol song, this is just my super late post dedicated to the Royal Wedding. Sorry to disappoint, but I was not one of those hyper girls who spent their Friday in front of the T.V, wearing a Will/Kate mask, waving around a Union Jack and buying memorabilia online. Although I frankly don't give a flying fish about Royal Weddings it feels appropriate to do a post with a brief summary of the opinion and a couple photos.

Love this girl.

Has anyone else seen David Beckham's new hair? He's going for the 50's vibe apparently, which my brother ain't happy about...

Kate's dress was aite, but my Mum and I liked this one on her sister.

Okay, that is as much of this nonsense I can handle. It's all over, finally. Laters.
