Summer 2013, you will be missed

This has been one of the best summers of my life. Not only because it was 3 months and GCSEs were officially over, but of course my first month in New York was most definitely the best month of my life thus far. Every day I think about it, and even though it makes me sad because I miss it so much, I am so grateful to have had such a phenomenal experience, making so many friends, learning about photography and general life lessons, and of course, living in my favourite city was beyond perfection. Then, visiting my beautiful friend from the course, Sara, in Rome was one of the most beautiful 3 days I could have wished for, learning about the city and being with some one who will be a friend for life. Being in London can be quite boring during the summer, but I had an awesome time being able to relax, see my friends, read books and watch films. It reminded me that I don't have to feel guilty about spending time alone and not constantly going out with friends, because I need to accept that it doesn't necessarily have to be a negative thing, enjoying my own company.

So, since I go back to school on Tuesday, I have 1 day left of my summer, and everyone is already back at school, therefore I will take advantage of the last lazy day, but I am very excited to start at my new college! Not sure if I have talked about it on the blog, but I am going to take English Literature, French, History of Art and Photography. NO MORE SCIENCE OR MATHS OH MY GOD. It will be a very strange and different environment, being able to wear my own clothes, make up and having boys at my school for the first time, but I think it's exactly what I need. My New York experience has reminded me how wonderful it is meeting new people with similar or completely different interests, and I can't wait.

As I mentioned before, spending time alone is an important part of being accepting of oneself, so earlier this week when everyone was at school, I took a trip to the Photographer's Gallery and it was bliss. Here are some of my favourite photographs...

Next time I post I will be an official year 12 student! Until then...
