"I can not live without my soul"

Last night I went to see the film adaptation of the classic novel by Emily Bronte, 'Wuthering Heights', starring Kaya Scodelario and new comer James Howson. As I have not read the book, I am certain I did not get the full idea, but nevertheless, I thought it was good. Not 'We Need To Talk About Kevin' standards, but that's another story. There was a lack of dialogue, but the cinematography was phenomenal. The film was almost silent, only playing sounds from the windy moors, and with only one song that is at the end by Mumford and Sons. This was very effective and portrayed the scene perfectly. It was filmed beautifully, and I felt that it really created the feelings and emotions of the characters and how they lived at that time and place. The raw emotion was evident in the acting and because of this, paired with the cinematography, I enjoyed it. Yes, it was 2 hours, which I admit made me fed up when there was hardly any audio and the film made it seem that nothing much really happens. Because I have seen the film and not exactly loved it, I am putting it on my 'To read' list so I can hopefully appreciate the classic love story to its full potential.

Style Rookie

Tavi Gevinson is nothing new in the fashion world. She is a year older than me, and a life time cooler, but I believe that we would be awesome friends. I have followed her blogging, and whenever she is featured in a magazine it is safe to say I have seen it, and sometimes her posts speak to me more than other times. We share a love for Harold and Maude, The Virgin Suicides, Ghost World and, of course, clothes. From what I can see, she doesn't dress how she does to please others, and that is how I like to think I am. If I like something that other people might not think they could wear or is 'cool enough', I would wear it if I liked it and it was the kind of look I was feeling that day. It changes, and that's what I like about her style, too.
When I went onto her blog and saw that she has another, 'Rookie Mag', I was obligated to see what was going down. Immediately, I knew that it was everything I could want in a website. Now, if you don't mind, I am off to do some blog stalking with my virtual BFFE.

Trick-or-Treat

Halloween is one of my favourite holidays of all time, but alas, no trick or treating on the agenda for tonight. Instead, I am dressed as Donnie Darko, watching Donnie Darko, and waiting for the trick or treaters. My dog, Milo, has been humiliated as he is every Halloween, and this year he is sporting a 'bitching' (excuse the slight pun) spider costume.

Donna Darko.

Spiderman.

So I know this is my Halloween post, but there is something that I need to blog about as I have bored my parents and friends with talk of what is on my mind beyond belief.
I need to talk about Kevin.
Last week my father and I went to see the recently released film adaptation of the book 'We Need To Talk About Kevin'. Tilda Swinton plays the mother, Eva Khatchadourian, whose 15 year old son goes on a high-school killing spree. It is a very artistically executed film and the cinematography was phenomenal. The acting was incredible, which leads me to the subject of my other latest obsession. His name is Ezra Miller. When I saw Donnie Darko, I thought that was love, but no, that was just a mild flirtation. Ezra is, of course, exquisite. He has such a grace, which is perfect for the role of Kevin. His stare is so sinister and captivating that it felt wrong to be so enticed by this murderous character, yet it also felt like that was the point. After seeing the film, I left the cinema speechless. Suddenly, I felt the urgent need to cry. No words could express how I felt, and I still struggle to articulate my exact response. As soon as I got home, I started to read the book, then finishing in a mere 3 days. That may not be little, but for me a book has to be outstanding for me to finish in a week, so maybe that tells you just how engrossed I am in the story. Only 2 days after seeing the film with my father I went again with my friend, Izzy, and yet again, I was stunned into silence and that same desire to cry. Since then, I have not been able to stop thinking about it. If it isn't obvious, this speech is my way of pleading for you to read the book and see the film.

Fairytale of New York City

Holla! Just got back from a lovely 3 day trip to New York City. I shopped, I walked, I danced, I shopped some more, I wined and dined (without the wine), I saw people, I laughed A LOT, and it was an immense trip, as always.

Yes, that is an Avatar dog. Only in New York.

Celestine in her awesome sparkly Wang trousers!

American Halloween beats all.

Me with my awesome friend, Claire. She makes me laugh like literally no one else. Apart from Celestine! Together they are pure magic. Trust me.

Duffy. Words can not describe this amazingness.

Freize Art Fair 2011

Finally, it is half term, and this year we get 2 weeks free from prison (ie school)! My holiday started well with a birthday party and a trip to the Freize Art Fair on Saturday. My favourites were the Chapman Brother's (obvs) and Penny Slinger, who you should check out. Yes, if you google her it does come up with some of the 'tantric' information about her, but I chose to ignore that, and focus on her cool doll's houses, which I recommend you do aswell. We saw our friend Lucy, who happened to be in this month's edition of Vogue USA (!!!) and we decided that we are going to New York on Friday for a long weekend! As you know, I am in love with New York and I am for suresies moving there when I am 18, so I couldn't be more excited. Here are some photos I took at Freize...

Yes, that is a rabbit in a jar...

The next time I post I will be in the Big Apple! Woohoo!
