October Half Term 2012 - It Got Frooty

Happy November, one and all. It has been a little while, but as I have been a busy lady. The beginning of my 2 week holiday was spent on a school trip in Berlin. We were there for 4 days, and let me say, 'es war sehr fabelhaft'. Google translate that shiz. We went to a few museums, a gallery, walked for miles and ended it with some make overs on the last night. The usual private girls school vibes. Berlin was surprisingly spacious and I deffo want to return soon, perhaps to see more of the film, music and art scenes, but it was all very picturesque and I enjoyed every moment.

Brought my grillz. And wot.

My next adventure of the half term was a cheeky weekend getaway to Swanage with my best gal, Honey. Her family have an awesome house there and we spent our days attending to the fire place, watching films playing Rock Band and card games *wink LULU*. We also went horse riding on a trail and I was stuck with the small slow one that was definitely 'the one kept in the back', if you feel me, and was aptly names Marmite. We were at the back of the group and fell over everything, but we did also kindle a love for the horse names Smartie, who tried to eat everything, so we felt we could relate. We saw Skyfall, the new bond film, which was pretty damn good, and took a couple trips into Swanage town, which included spending too much money in the knick knack shops and Arcade. Our favourite shop was named Rainbow's End, and it was the kind of shop that smells of incense, sells baggy pyjama trousers worn by white Rastas, tie dye t-shirts and some gnarly Marijuana themed badges and belly bars *wink LULU x2*, but the best part of the weekend was by far the creation of our music video to one of our shared faves, Genesis by Grimes. We have never been so proud and I urge you all to watch it NOW. Your life will be changed for the better. I think.

SOON.

The latest event of the holiday was last night, which was my favourite night of the year... Halloween, of course. This year I was Marie Antoinette, with an Ebay costume, my DMs and my rabbit fur cape, with my hurr done at the Hershesons bar at Topshop and make-up done by myself. Honey's family have a party every year and it beats every party you could ever imagine. Let's just say some TLC was 'sang' in the Karaoke tent, the bar tenders knew me and Lulu a little too well, along with the scary maze actors.
NO SHAME.

My love muffin, Eve, during our pumpkin carving session.

Me and the O-man. I apologise for the trauma that may be caused due to that photo...
but it had to be shared.

Shout out to my suga momma, Honey.

Tomorrow I am getting my hurr did, topping up the roots and all, and I might get a funky addition to the undercut, but I am not completely certain yet. We shall see.

Peace.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Last Sunday I met a couple of my best buddies to see the new film adaptation of the book, which I haven't read but am now dying to, 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower'. We all came out with excited grins on our faces and we all fell in love with the film instantly. Of course, if you have read the book and weren't a fan of the film it is very understandable, as I have heard from a few people that a lot of the plot and characters are changed. However, I haven't read it therefore I shall carry on praising the film.

The story may seem a little cliché in some respects, but the majority of 'coming of age films' include common themes - school, friends, parties, drugs, love, depression, death etc. All these are heavily featured, but I thought it was done well and they didn't make it embarrassing or cringey at all. The cast was pretty epic, but I am biased because Ezra Miller is my spirit animal and Paul Rudd as an English teacher is just too lovable.

One thing that also made my love it was the constant mention of one of my favourite songs of all time, Asleep by The Smiths. I don't have much else to say on that topic, but it was worth a mention. If you haven't heard that song then please. Listen now.

It made me laugh and cry. It made me want to be in their friendship group. It made me happy and I definitely recommend that everyone should see it.

Sixteen Candles

Yes, I am now sixteen years of age. It's madness. Don't worry, I am not more mature or anything, so there will still be plenty of things like this on here...

Now for the best part.
Here's my birthday present haul!

Fun fact - when I was in New York with my family as a wee girly, we were stopped by an old man with a camera who said we were really cool and he photographed us then and there. That man was Bill Cunningham. BIBLE.

This beanie purchase was inspired by the beauts man that is A$AP Rocky.
Second fun fact of the day - his birthday is also on the 3rd of October.
Can you say twinzies?

But let's not kid ourselves, I kinda rock it better than A$AP.

Definitely the best bunch of birthday presents I have received yet and I d a fabbity day. Once I have watched 'Qui êtes-vous Polly Magoo?' and 'Bill Cunningham New York' I will post my Milo head review, and I am so hyped to wear my new clothes! Pictures will be posted soonish. Thanks to everyone who made my sixteenth an epic day and I love y'all.

Monday Night in Soho...Yo.

Last night my father and I ventured to Soho to meet our good friend Dinos (Chapman - name dropping and wot) to watch him get his latest tattoo by our other good friend, Thomas (Hooper - holla). The twist in the plot was that Dinos wasn't to see the tattoo at any point until it was complete. He's fearless, I tell you. Obviously, if you could trust anyone to tattoo you without seeing what they were planning, it would be Thomas, and saying that it went well would be the understatement of the century. It's one of the most epic and awesome tattoos I have seen Thomas do and I know that Dinos was chuffed with it. Here are some pictures from the gnarly evening.

By the way, his tattoo says 'I'm with this idiot'. LOLZ.

The Eye Has to Travel

Last week, my mother hit the town to visit the Curzon cinema to see 'Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel'. It was a superb documentary, here's a little write up about it:

...painting an intimate portrait of a woman we all thought we knew. The film’s most compelling moments are not the high-drama of her career or the celebration of her imagination and singular looks, but rather those that reveal her personal history, vulnerabilities, steely determination and divine triumph.
With deference, Immordino Vreeland unflinchingly charts Mrs. Vreeland’s challenging childhood, fraught with parental strain, insecurities and academic failures, her self-preservation and ultimately her break through — reinventing herself as the dazzling, adventurous woman who would win the heart of ravishing bachelor Reed Vreeland. Wending its way through the Belle Époque in Paris, NYC’s Roaring ‘20s and London’s Swinging ‘60s, the film sparkles with game-changing moments in the history of fashion while still embracing weighty themes such as the evolution of women into roles of power and prominence.
Mrs. Vreeland’s own voice — that fabled mix of polished sophistication and street jargon — tells much of the story, coupled with insights and anecdotes from colleagues and friends like Andy Warhol, Diane Sawyer, Manolo Blahnik and Veruschka. First-time director Immordino Vreeland enlisted the talents of Bent-Jorgen Perlmutt and Frédéric Tcheng, the critically-acclaimed editors of  “Valentino: The Last Emperor.” Together they crafted hundreds of hours of archival footage, interviews, photography, graphics, animation and other visual and musical devices into a seamless collage that is already being touted as a living work of art.

We both loved it and talked about it for days! She is such an icon and I admire her greatly and hope to become like her when I am an eccentric old woman. To top off the wonderful evening, Manolo Blahnik himself was in the audience and talked a bit about his friend Vreeland in the Q&A session after they showed the film. Let's just say omFg. This was my facial expression for about 10 minutes after.
